There are many problems arising from the use of synthetic products for pest control worldwide, necessitating the search for alternatives, such as plant extracts. Plant extracts contain numerous secondary metabolites that can exhibit bioactivity alone or synergistically. The objective of this study was to evaluate the action of diluting the product of a leaf hydroethanolic extract of Xylopia aromatica in controlling Tetranychus urticae. Twenty grams of dried, ground leaves of X. aromatica were used in 80 g of 70% ethanol to produce the crude extract. The experiment had seven treatments: five dilutions of the extract (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100%) plus two controls: 70% ethanol as a negative control and abamectin as a positive control. Petri dishes containing moistened cotton and a disc of pork bean leaf (Canavalia ensiforme) were used. Ten replicates (plates)/dilution were used, each disc containing five female mites. Mortality, repellency, and oviposition were evaluated. The regression presented adjusted coefficients of determination for the linear models of mortality and oviposition (0.9447 and 0.8111, respectively). The corrected mortality percentages relative to the 0% dilution (deionized water) and 70% ethanol for the 25, 50, 75, and 100% dilutions, and for abamectin, were 29, 63, 92, 94, and 96%, respectively. The lowest reduction in oviposition occurred at the lowest dose, with 57% and the largest was abamectin (94%). For this study, under these conditions, the dilutions used showed a positive result, noting no difference between using the crude hydroethanolic extract of X. aromatica and 75% of it.
